Asus Zenfone 10: what we want to see

The Asus Zenfone 10 might be one of the best phones of 2023, but the company will have to learn from the failures of the Asus Zenfone 9, which in many ways was one of the most disappointing phones of 2022. It got 3.5 stars in our review, which is not bad at all, but it is a huge drop compared to the 4.5 stars the Asus Zenfone 8 got the year before. Still, these phones have great potential, so we are cautiously optimistic for the next model.

We'll probably have to wait a while, though, and we haven't heard anything about the Asus Zenfone 10 yet. Once we do, though, we'll be looking forward to it. When we do know, however, we will add any leaks, news and rumours to this article. In the meantime, you will find our predictions on the release date and price, as well as a list of things we would like to see.

Asus Zenfone 10: release date and price

• There is no word on when the Asus Zenfone 10 might be launched, but it probably won't be for quite a while, given that the Zenfone 9 didn't arrive until July 2022. However, the company is not entirely consistent with its launches: the Zenfone 8 was launched in May of its release year and the Zenfone 7 in August.
• We cannot therefore say for sure when the Asus Zenfone 10 will be announced, but we assume around mid-2023. We also can't say how much it will cost, but as a reference the Zenfone 9 starts at $699/£699 (about AU$1,210), so the Zenfone 10's price could be similar.

More cameras

• The Asus Zenfone 9 only has two rear cameras, which is not many by Android phone standards. For the Zenfone 10, we would therefore like to see at least a third, specifically a telephoto lens.
• It would also be good if Asus improved the shutter speed: in our review of the Zenfone 9 
• we found that the phone often takes a while to take a picture, which could lead to blurry shots.

A lower price

• The Asus Zenfone 9 is priced at the upper mid-range, but is at the high-end, just a little below the Samsung Galaxy S22 and iPhone 14. It is also more expensive than the Google Pixel 7 and the specifications and features offered do not justify it.

A small screen

• The Zenfone 9 has a compact 5.9-inch display and we want the Asus Zenfone 10 to have a similarly small screen. So we are not asking for any changes: we want this aspect to remain the same.
• There aren't many compact phones these days, and especially not ones with high-end specs like the Zenfone 9, so we would like to see this trend continue with the Zenfone 10, because there is definitely an audience for these phones, even if they are niche.

A bigger battery

• The Zenfone 9 has a rather small battery of 4,300 mAh, and while this might seem reasonable given that it also has a rather small screen, it is worth noting that the Sony Xperia 5 IV is only marginally larger, yet manages to fit a 5,000 mAh battery.
• In any case, the Zenfone 9 does not have very good battery life, so it clearly needs a bigger battery or some optimisation.
